day 1: showing michael around my 'hood' of haad salad

i got up early this morning to pretty myself up a bit (for the first time in a long time) and hitch into thong sala to greet michael at the first boat of the day.  he took an early flight from bangkok to koh samui to get to me faster than the all night train.  he's such a sweetie.  i was lucky and spotted a friend coming down the road and got a ride on the back of her motor bike so i arrived in plenty of time to meet him.  i spotted his tall, lanky frame on the top deck of the boat as it pulled in and i was still at the way other end of the pier.  i walked up and we had to wait for them to tie up the boat before we could have a proper greeting and we were just giggling in disbelief that we were in the same place again.  he finally was able to get off the boat and we could at last have the embrace we had both wanted for a long time.  we went to sit under some trees and have a breakfast of some fruits i had bought.  i was so excited to show him around the island that i had been telling him so much about over the last few months.  we walked into town and rented a motor bike to take us back to my neck of the woods.  i had managed to go three months without really learning how to drive one.  i knew he can do anything and he wouldnt mind driving one when he got here.  of course he took to it quickly and i hopped on and away we went to my home away from home.  we rented a cute little bungalow right on haad salad and headed out to the rocks for a snorkel.  unfortunately, lots of sea lice (the little stingy guys) kept us out of the water for long.  but we had a great day after that hitting up all my favorite places to eat like big mountain, salad hut 2, and reggae bar, visiting my bungalow at school, and meeting loads of people that he had heard so much about and vice versa.  it was getting pretty hot by the afternoon and so of course ended up in the pool at the fancy place on haad salad where we stayed to watch a very romantic and perfect sunset from the water.  it was so fun to have him here finally!
