we left ko phangnan and we needed to i dont think our body could take much more. It was an effort to get up we still hadn't recovered which was not really surprising. We got a taxi to the pier then a 1.5 hour boat ride over to ko sumui. We arrived and walked down a massive road with our backpacks on and didn't have a clue where we were going. We stoppped at a bar and had a water, no beer this was going to be a detox, and read the lonely planet for ideas where to go. We decided against chaweng the main party town and decided for lai mai, a beach a bit further up with less crowds. We turned up by taxi and had no idea where to stay so just walked along the beach with our bags trying to find a cheap place but one with a shower  that didnt dribble and a toilet you could sit on. Its funny how you miss the little luxerys. We checked in to a nice place on the beach and chilled out. we went for a walk to see what was about and found a little market bought some clothes, then got some supplies like water etc then headed back to the beach.

That night we went for a lovely meal at Mr Phu's, the food really was amazing then we went into the main town. Ko sumui is really commercial compared to every else we have been, its more like greece or spain with lots of english bars showing the football etc. We really arent impressed with it. The beaches are amazing but the town is not the same. Because it is more a holiday resort its not as easy to start talking to people. If you go to thailand and are short on time id advise leaving ko sumui out, there are much nicer places. You walk down the street and there are what seems like hundred of thai women outside shops, bars and massage palours trying to get you to come in. As you walk past they shout 'hello sexy man'. I never thought i'd say this but I'm fed up of women telling me i'm a sexy man lol. They are to much here and it gets quite annoying. We ended up in a big bar and just had a drink when 2 english guys and 2 italian guys started chatting to us. They were typical english and smashed a glass slamming it down on the bar after downing it in one. They were dickheads but somehow we got involved in rounds as they bought us drinks and told us to down them in one. The italian had an obsession with keeping eye contact when you did a shot and kept saying 'look into the eyes, the eyes'. me and luke found it hard not to laugh in his face. We did our round then made our exit.

I ended up in a foam party but luke went home coz of his tatoo and he had spent to much money. I danced like a nutter in the foam with 2 girls from switzerland then the english and italian guys came in started being dickheads so i left. I was chatting to a few thai people asking where was still open to dance and they took me to a club which was nuts. it was really dark with strobes going off and it was playing some really good music, i was having a great time but the thai girls were out in force and kept grabbing me trying to get me to dance. You may find it funny and think that i was loving it but i wasn't. I danced with one girl then she tried kissing me, her mate came over and asked if i wanted 'boom boom' which i guessed was sex and i said no. She went nuts and i mean nuts and started punching me and hit me in the face. It was so frustrating coz i couldnt do anything as i would never touch a girl, she tried punching me in the balls and that was the final straw so i pushed her off of me, from the crowd of people a few thai guys started approaching, i shit myself and got out of there as soon as i could. I walked for ages not knowing where i was staying and walked along a main road. I stopped and asked two thai guys where to go and they pointed in the direction i was going so i carried on walking. A few minutes later i heard a beep and the same two thai guys were on a bike and told me to jump on. I thought it could be dodgy but i was in the middle of no where so had no choice. What i didnt realise was the club i had left had a similar name to the resort i was staying at and they ended up taking me back there. I eventually got a taxi and got home at 5.30 am, so much for the detox. Not a good night. Beat up by thai prostitutes for refusing sex lol.
