hi again everybody!

well, it has been another week and i cant even believe it.  they are really starting to fly by now.  our school schedule keeps us so busy during the week that they just blow by.  this week we had an activity every night too so it was hard to keep up on reading for our test tomorrow but i feel pretty good after getting my flash cards done today.  and i was reassured after getting 100% on the last one.  guess i still have that academic gene in me after all (thanks dad:)).  on monday and wednesday night we watched a video of a lecture on the mayan calender that i found absolutely fascinating.  it was even optional and i went both nights.  i just really like how clearly it was explained with a sense of self empowerment about the whole thing.  tuesday and thursday we had night classes that were pretty interesting.  on thursday we all sat in the sound dome and made the sound of aum for about a half hour.  it sounded pretty neat and definitely raised all of our vibrations.  i was sweating like crazy in there.  we have also been really busy getting all of our ekadasi breathing rounds done each day.  you add a round of 3/5/7 breathing everyday for 11 days to clear emotional blocks in the nervous system.  so by the end it starts to take a lot of time.  but your lungs sure feel great afterwards.  some people have had a lot of ups and downs this week because of it.  i have had a few good releases but otherwise pretty mellow.  we are all thankful that it is over though.  on friday night i went to a sound journey that they hold every week in the sound dome where you just get cozy on the floor while my teacher plays really trippy music for a while.  you can just let you mind go on this "sound journey"  while he plays all sorts of different beats and tones.  it is good for your imagination and actually pretty fun.  and last night we had a women's circle that was unexpectedly very healing for me so i am feeling great.  i am definitely being exposed to a lot of things that i never have been before and i am just open to trying everything and seeing what the experience is for me.  some of it works for me and some doesn't but it is all worth a try to delve into the subconscious because that is what will really cause you problems after a while.  since i was doing the activities at school, i pretty much stuck around the local beaches this weekend, snorkeling and studying and working on my tan.  also having fun checking out the local restaurants and lots of yummy food.  i got a pedicure on the beach today so my toes are all pretty now which i love since i look at them so much more around here.  then i went to an osho meditation that they offered for the end of ekadasi.  at first i was skeptical that the process would do anything for me because i didn't feel like i really had anything left to get out of me.  it involves a lot of jumping around, breathing, screaming, and dancing.  i was really surprised how easily everything came and felt great afterwards.  so a lot of you probably think i am totally crazy but i think most of the world could probably benefit from a little deep breathing and screaming at the floor.  you would be surprised how much you hold onto that you didn't even know about.  well, i am off now to dinner with a bunch of other students to celebrate someone's 30th bday.  i have been doing so much around the center this week and weekend it will be so nice to just kick back and have some good old fashioned social time again.  its nice to take a break from working on your inner self and balance with some normal hanging out like i was at home.  thank goodness all the other students like to do that too.  everyone is really chill and so normal really.  i thought i was going to be the only one that had never done any of this stuff before but we are all on the same wavelength so it works great.  well, i'm off now so i will see you next weekend.  hope all is well for everyone out there.

namaste,

melissa

your toes are always cute! :) but I bet they're even more adorable now that they're all snazzed up and pretty... I cant wait to sport the flip-flops for several weeks too with you! ...a 'trip' in the "sound dome" (despite the images it conjures up of a strung out ol' hippy sharing and reliving his timothy leary-era glory daze unto a maleable collective) is-- music is- undoubtedly one of the best transcendental tools (duh!); more so if you're part of creating the music-- that's what I say! keep on keepin' on! i love you- mk
