We met someone from one of the resorts on the boat and it was small huts on the beach and they told us it was on Long Beach, where we wanted to be but it ended up being miles away so we ended up getting annoyed and then trekking, with heavy backpacks on to the other beach (20 min trek). Jamie said it would have been a good idea to stay there a night and then move the following day but I said that it is the principle and didn't want to give them money by staying there coz they lied to us! But it did work out well in the end when we got to the beach it looked really nice but it was a 'long beach' so I said to Jamie to stay with the bags while I go and look for a room, it ended up being about 20 mins halfway and whilst I was walking the sky got really dark and then the heavens opened! Luckily I was stood outside one of the resorts so I sought some cover and luckily they had a room for 400B but it was a hut, not quite on the beach like we hoped for but it did have a pool which was good. So had to get a ride down the road to where Jamie was to pick him up and then the next day we had a look for something more suitable and found a nice hut on the beach and the livelier part of the beach.
The far end of the beach is much better, opposite end to Sanctuary. There are little huts outside the bars where you can sit on cushions and have a drink on the beach, they are great! The only thing about Koh Lanta is the beach isn't as nice as the ones on Phi Phi, I was under the impression that they would be a lot nicer. Plus it is a little 'too' relaxing for us I think. There is little to do in the day but laze on the beach (sometimes it's nicer just to go for a wander) but if that's what you are into there is nothing wrong with that. Think we just get bored easily. It also rained from mid afternoon till early evening each day, but at least we knew when it was coming!
I didn't have such a good day the following day because I woke up in the night with terrible stomach cramps and was really sick. I didn't get much sleep so ended up trying to get some whilst laying on the beach, I used a few 'rehydration sachets' because I couldn't keep anything down and needed some energy and they seemed to help and made me feel a bit better. Ate some food in the evening which made me feel a lot better. We decided to head off the next day because we had enough of lazy beach life and wanted to see what Krabi was like.
