Easily the most romantic place I have ever been, Kiruna is a charming little town, just past the Artic circle.
After a 28 hour train trip from Stockholm, we arrived in the dark, snow covered town. Josh dragged my bag through the snow, I fell over a few times as children sleighed past us, singing Christmas carols.
We made it to our hotel, I think it was -15 degrees or so. Then we went and got some food, and checked out the town.
Josh made my year (maybe even life), by getting me the best christmas present I have ever received- a ride on a husky dog driven sleigh, across frozen lakes and through snow covered fields.
We got into our big red suits, and snow boots, and played in the snow as we waited for the dogs to be unloaded.
The friendly Swedish driver stopped mid way through the trip, settled down in a large tent, made us some coffee, and Josh tried reindeer meat!!! Not me though, not that brave!
It was an amazing place....and not one I will forget in a hurry.
