The climb was great! But beware the prices when you go up the mountain. Food at the base of the mountain is cheap, with normal prices ranging abt RM 3-5 for a decent and filling meal. Once 6km up Mt K, food ranges to RM 25-30 for a decent meal, and they don't taste half as good at the base! For people engaging in porters, the rates are not cheap.. for a pack of 6-7 kilograms, porters will charge abt RM 65-70 to climb the pack with you for the entirety of the trip :O And, the Gunting guesthouse is simply horrid! YES, warning, DON"T STAY there if you are a hygiene freak! I'd rather stay at Labah Rata (yes also becuz it's the only canteen there) even though the noise may be a lil too much to allow one to catch some decent sleep before the 230am climb the following morning. And, DON"T GET the souvenirs there, they are FREAKING RIP-OFFS! you can get stuffs like that in KK for abt 1/3 the price! And obviously, if you are a white Caucasian, or obviously a Westerner, even street restuarants will try to hype their prices up, but of cuz u prolly wldn't mind cuz you are loaded (yes tt's our impression!).
