Back in Hervey Bay we picked up the trailer, cleaned up and re-stocked our supplies. The next day we headed for the Sunshine Coast. As the coast here is very developed we decided to head inland and camp in a National Park to escape the crowds and do daytrips.
We camped for 5 days in near total seclusion until the weekend when more campers arrived. The sounds the first night were incredible – cicada’s and crickets; bell birds, whip birds and kookaburras; and frogs croaking at full volume. We were continually hassled by brush turkeys, sadly they got into the fresh tomatoes we had just bought at the markets. One night we spotted a mob of cute Paddymelons (midsize marsupials) with our floodlight.
On A’s 11th birthday we went to the very popular Eumundi markets and had a swim in the surf at Noosa. A & M are fascinated by A’s new toy, NintenDogs.
On our daytrips we caught up with various friends that have moved away from Sydney - at Australia Zoo, at a BBQ in Maleny, and on the river in Noosa. We did a lot of driving in the countryside. It’s very green and hilly and hence quite a contrast to most of our trip.
