Ka'anapali is fantastic.  It is on the west side of Maui, overlooking several other Hawaiian Islands.  To the south is Lahainatown and all that entails (food, shopping, big port), and to the North is Kapalua, some beautiful golf courses, and a nice scenic drive along the coast (even in the afternoon "Pineapple Mist").  The Hawaiians really do have a way of putting a positive spin on just about anything.

Day 1 we arrived FIVE HOURS late after we sat in our airplane on the tarmac in Dallas for eternity.  The whole time we were thinking, "we just want to get to Maui".  We didn't get to see much on day 1, except a late check-in, a light dinner overlooking the shore, and some much needed sleep.

Next entry:  The Road to Hana, which starts with a 0720 departure.

Day 1 itinerary;  Make it to the Hotel: Check.

Even five hours late, tired, and hungry, this place rules.
