Home in Juneau
There was no snow on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning was beautiful. It’s back to the Toyota truck (which will celebrate its quinceanera this year). Country music and the racquet club to catch up on the news were the good parts of Wednesday morning. The snow was not, although it did not stick.
The demonstration against the War in Iraq was postponed from March 19 to March 20 so that there would be no conflict with the rally to protest investments by the state in Darfur. The “die-in” scheduled as part of Darfur rally seemed bizarre to me. Who would lie down on a cold street in Alaska in March to protest the deaths in Darfur? Well, some people did! It does look like they had some kind of protection below their bodies – see http://juneauempire.com /stories/032008/loc _260007247.shtml
The protest against the war is scheduled for today but other things call to me.
One has to pick and choose the political issues to get involved in here.
I did get the PFD application in. This was the first thing on the list of things to do.
What I like about Juneau:
The people
The physical beauty
The many cultural activities
What I like about Merida
The people
The sun and warmth
The many cultural activities
When I am in Merida, I know that is where I want to be. When I am in Juneau, I know this is where I want to be. How fortunate to have two great places to spend part of each year.
And it is good to be home. The post office box of five months’ of mail has had a first pass with three piles now on the table: one pile of personal stuff, which I read; one of bills and tax stuff which is next; and one with ads and brochures for when I have time.
