Jerash is simply a magnificent place. I have been to Jerash many times in the 1990s, especially during the Jerash Festival of Culture. Its simply amazing with people congregating in the ruins. Walking through simply provides a set of contrasts between modernity and the relics which become alive in bone and structure. As you step on the stones underneath your feet, you simply but can't help wounder how things were in the past and how they are now. But for Jerash time has stood still with the arches, theatres and colonades insisting on a place in the modern world. You have to see it to believe it.
