As we entered Mexican waters, a pod of dolfins came to play with us!  They were very small and dark shiny grey.  They sunset reflected off their backs and they stayed with us, swimming back and forth until the sun was completely set and we all went to bed!

Isle Mujeres was overrun with tourists.  Papa was not very pleased...and the prices in the local markets weren't much different than in the States.  We did find a nice playground and had a good time exloring the island.  First thing we had to do was check in.  OMG, it was a serious ordeal.  First we went to the Port Captain who said we had to go to Immigration who said we had to go to Sanitation.  After Sanitation we had to go to the back cuz it cost us each $250 pesos (about $25) to register in Mexico.  Then we had to go back to the Port Captain with our new informaiton and stamped passports.  We still weren't done though, because we had to pay the harbor master $500 pesos (about $50) and their bank was in Cancun, so we had to take a ferry across and ride a bus to the bank and back to pay them.  All of this took two days, but it was a nice adventure to go to Cancun.  We visited an American school in town and got to see a class in action.  It was wonderful and the children on the island seem generally happy and healthy.  They are quickly becoming part of the tourism industry so the more they know English the better chances they have for getting a job in town making 20 dollars/day.

We took a little side trip to Isle Contoy which was only 5 hours cruise.  The island was SPECTACULAR and only a couple boats of tourists came per day so most of the time it seemed like our own private island!  Sunsets were amazing and there were iguanas, fish, and birds everywhere.  You couls walk from one side of the island to the other and watch the waves crashon the limestone rocks.  There was even a small lagoon where birds were nesting.  From an observatory you could see most of the island (but you had to walk up many steps to get the fantastic view!

The Park Guards were very friendly and let us stay for half the price while we waited until the weather was right to return to Isle Mujeres.  Upon returning, we went to Simon's favorite playground, he had a yummy frozen watermelon polsicle, and we stocked up on provisions for the sail down to Puerto Morelos, where we arrived yesterday!
