Utila to best describe it is a picturesque small island, characterized for their way of living. There isnt much to see around here other than going to the beach, clubbing, scuba diving and trekking to the other side of the island.

Surprisingly most of islanders speak English with a particular accent (islander accent?) theyre nice people most of business owners are retirees from either from the United States, Europe or Australia that have settled. Tourists (mostly European) that go there mainly for a scuba diving experience and some R&R, by the way from what I heard this a cheap place to get certified, yes cheaper than Thailand.

Take cash with you, as credit cards arent accepted in most places, they also have a small internet caf and several clubs, the one I recommend is called Coco Loco beer is cheap.

If you go to the beach in the afternoon or at night make sure to take some repellent with you against not mosquitoes necessarily but against sand flies, minuscule almost microscopic flies.

The way you can get to Utila is either by ferry or by plane, the most affordable obviously is by ferry.
