The tour began with a drive on the back of a truck through the rainforest with a guide and then we all transferred onto the boat. While we were driving along she kept asking if we knew we were going to get wet'? Everyone was saying yes that was fine and a few were saying the it would only be a bit of spray...little did they know!!
We set off on the boat trip along the part of the Iguazu river that was below the falls. after a bit of a sedate ride the rapids started and the trip got a bit exciting. still OK to hand onto our camers though. We were taken right up to two parts of the falls...on the Argentinian side, and then we were given heavy duty plastic bags to put all our belongings into. Then the bags were all folded down clipped on the top and then clipped to a ring on our seats.
Then the fun began. The boat took off towards the falls went right under the sides of the bottom of the falls and did 360's at the base of the falls. We got soaked and swamped and it was just so much fun. Glad I was too tired to think about it too much when I decided to go because I would not have missed it for the world. We played at the bottom of the falls for about 15-20 minutes and It was great .
Then it was a walk along part of the lower trail back to the hotel and to change into dry clothes. I met some australiand on the boat and we had a drink together at the bar after we had spruced up.
These guys had been warned by someone alse just how wet you get on this trip so he stripped down to his speedo's before we got on the boat. Now I have no objection to this if the 'bod' is in shape, but it is beyode me as to why fat gutted australian men think trotting around in their speedo's is a good look....because it ain't, no matter how nice you are!
However that's all part of the experience, and I had the time of my life.
