The name 'Chan Chan' has come to represent a huge area near Trujillo - composed of a central area of nine monumental palace complexes, and including almost 60 square miles of related architectural groupings of huacas, cemeteries, canals, dikes, sunken fields, paths, etc.

This city-within-a-city was awesome... and should not be missed! Try to time your visit to be there for the late afternoon sun if you want some awesome photos, too.
