Being talked up as "the second best restaurant in the World" Shangri-La certainly had big expectations to fulfill. It didn't disappoint with it's superb food. From the plate of complementary fiery topped poppadoms to the succulent tandoori chicken and jugs of cold San Migual I was impressed. Many of Hong Kong's Nepalese population, a legacy of the Gurkha regiments of the departed British forces, live around Yuen Long and they added an air of authenticity to the atmosphere. If I was looking for a fault I would probably say washroom needed a touch of cleaning, but all up a fantastic experience. I walked away a happy man, my Shangri-La Privilege Discount Card tucked away in my pocket and a happy glow from knowing that I now had a local curry house.
