Rwo-shr

Ron and Kate came by this morning to introduce us to the Bukit Timah Reserve. The reserve abuts Steve and Alice's house and is one of 3 rain forests in the world located in urban cities. We did not see any snakes but did see two monkeys romantically entwined in the trees. We climbed to the highest point of Singapore (150 meters?). This may not seem like much but our clothes were soaked through in sweat (shorts, shirts, etc) before we were done. Forget altitude training, our athletes should train in the jungles! The jungle is truly fascinating and I look forward to more walks through it this summer.

After a shower and re-hydration, we ventured to Holland Village to treat ourselves to 40 minutes of foot reflexology (massage and manipulations). This chinese science of rwo-shr is based on the belief that the bodies internal organs can be treated through pressure points in the foot. The Health Steps entrance at street level takes you up a flight of stairs that opens to a room with 12 recliners, clients and reflexologists. This is apparently a booming business in Singapore as all chairs were full and appointments are required.

Holland Village is thriving section of town with vibrant street level businesses and activity and seemed to be a fairly chic place to be compared to some of our previous ventures.

Tonight Raema is making dinner for Mom and I before we venture to Vietnam. Depending upon internet access, we may be out of touch for a week or so.
