Meet martine at Hobart YHA and decided on road trip- she's dutch but a language person and therefore spent a year at cambridge uni and speaks 6 languages fluently.

so sun day the 4th I went to church- very cool city church here right down town good service and bought a cd sermon on anoxiety- I think that sermon will come in handy. Martina went to bury Island.

mon 5th we rented a car- nothing special by anymeans but I think shell get us around the Island of tassie. it was cheap and ... yeah I think it was a good enough deal. of course on the way out of town I missed the exit twice so we drove across the hobart bridge (it has a real name I just don't know it) three times. then we were out of town.

1st stop richmond- was a bit disappointed but apparently I had to see the oldest bridge in Aus so I went. were going to walk around the small jail house that they had there but we were headed for bigger and better PA (Port Arthur)

next we stopped at eagle hawk neck where there was some cool rock formations but they seem to be much better seen from the water and I hope to go back and take a boat tour cause I was almost disapointed.

then we arrived in PA found out that the YHA closed down 3months ago and the only hostel was at the carvan park which was ok for 16$ a night but ... thinking winning in the .... mostly cheaply kept hostel of all times. they even had three bunks high bunk beds- I really hope they didnt expect people to sleep up that high) we did the goast tour that night- before seening the buildings and ... I was impressed. you defintly have to be a theathertical type person to do that tour but its cute the way he left us hanging and thinking sometimes. but I thought it was worth it.

next day we were booked at the 9am tour (which is included in your admissioon prce which I think is really good because ... its good to take a tour+ and you get a boat tour cause PA looks awesomefrom the water) after the tour we walked around oursleves then went on our boat tour. we had also purchased an optional Isle of the dead tour where we got to see where everyone was buried and some of their more personal stories- really liked that. wandered a bit more and called it a day at 2pm.

as I was driving to Bicheno I was trying to keep the speed limit (100km/h) but I found it quite difficult. prob 1 cause of the car- small NO power but the roads are really quite windey/ twisty here and ... yeah thru out the whole trip... I found it pretty near impossbile to drive 80 never mind 100 but people found it possible cause they were passing me left right and center.

so on the way to bicheno we stopped at a couple beaches- there a beach ever second turn on the east coast of tassie. and then spikey bridge which I got to walk thru cause there was no water going thru it. very unusual bridge.

M likes to take pictures of trees and we stopped a lot to take pictures of trees. in bicheno we had a nice hostel- kind of loud. had a cafe where internet was 10$ a hour but found that to be normal through out our next couple of days. I had crepes but with chicken and satay sause- I hate satay sause Ive decideed.... wish I had bridgette creapes :( there was this guy (bit loud mouth) that came to check his email as I was putting my photos on a cd. I thought he was canadian and he was there was these 6 american girls and he went over to chat at them. announcing that he was canadian and did they know the capital of canada. (kind of one of thoes guys that your almost imberressed to say is canadaian cause he is so proud of it hes almost conceded) anyways he was from ottawa.

wed day 3 of 9- we back tracked to freychinet National Park- hiked to wineglass bay. which EVERYONE was doing (even lots of little old ladies in flipflops) and it was beautiful (saw a guy that was at church on sun- this wasnt the first time this had happened and not the last. EVERYWHERE we went we saw alot of the same vans and alot of the same people-unless they were going the other direction around tassie then we were)

beautiful is the only word that you can use for the stuff I saw. we went down to the beach and had lunch, then accross to hazards beach where low and behold I meet the guy from the night before and he introduced me to a canadian chick chole- she did the overlander and then is biking for a month when she has to go back to mel for uni classes. very cool chick, we went swimming braved the "cold" water and chatted a bit. she was from paris, on (which I have to admit I didnt know where it was)

we then hiked 3h around- which was kind of really boring and seemed really long. its also where I got sun burned which Im not going to mention to my mother cause shell kill me but .... yeah I REALLY regreted it for the next two nights and ... its just healed today on day 9.

then home to cloes bay where we spent the night.- tons of adventure companies out of coles bay (so if I ever need a job I think I should head there and see what they have for canoeing instrustors)

thur- day 4 of 9- we hiked 5km to blue stone bay cause M had seen pitures and thought that she could get the same pictures. the road said 4x4 onlt but even in our little bug of a car I think I could have done it. what I didnt remember to do was turn the lights off of our little bug and therefore after our 2h hike (maybe only 1h) our battary was completely dead. but get this we flagged down the nicest older people who were really set on using my phone carger to get the car started " this is the way you do it in the out back" -which I would have pd lots of money to see but we finnily got someone who did have cables and we got it going.

At bluestone bay I did some rock hopping/ climbing and it was great fun to be a kid again- loved it. scary but fun.

Next stop (after we ran the car for a bit) was friendly beaches- which were beautiful (theres my word again) but exactly the same as all the other beaches- to me anyways. it was really windy and I dionth think we enjoyed it as much as if it was calm seas. more photos on route....

pain of sunburn that Im not oing to complain about.... burnt areas twhere a forest fire went thru. kind of ... gross but kind of very cool too. then night at st helens (here in tassie they dont seem to use the ' at the end of words... kind of weird) nice atmosphere at hostel (no TV) but bad beds and a lady that snored really bad.
