My first trip to Hilton Head Island was spent staying at one of the many vacation rental properties available on the island.  Hilton Head is primarily made up of rental properties with only a few hotels to choose from.  At first I was hesitant because the cost is so much more than a hotel but once you consider how many people you can accommodate and the fact that you can prepare your own meals its not too bad.  And I loved all the conveneiences of staying in a self contained home with most everything I needed except I did miss the maid service.  We used a local company called Hilton Head Rentals and Golf.  They were very helpful with lots of great information about the island and recommended their favorite HIlton Head Restaurants.
