After an unsuccesful first attempt at snowboarding after my first ankle surgery and just having a second ankle surgery done in mid-January I decided to try snowboarding again to see how it would go.

I really wanted to know if I was going to be able to ride again or if I was going to have to give it up.

I went with Jen and Ken to Eagle Rock, which is a small mountain that is fairly close to where we live. The night before we went it poured so the slopes were incredibly icy.

I was happy that when I got my board on it didn't hurt like the last time. I was able to ride this time but it feels as if I lost most of what I learned last season. I was able to turn heel-side and stop but had no control on my toe-side turns. I'm not sure if my muscle memory hasn't kicked back in yet or if having surgery done sort of messed me up.

At any rate this beginner run was good but alot longer and with more turns that I am used to at Bear Creek. The icy conditions didn't help at all and fell multople times. Even my cousin was having a bit of trouble.

We stayed for a few runs but everyone's rear end was sore from falling on the ice and we decided we had had enough before one of us ended up getting hurt.

Eagle Rock is a nice place. Its not big, maybe on par with Bear Creek. At the time we went there was hardly anyone there, the lift ticket prices were a bit more expensive than I though they would be. But its a good option for close to home.
