Hoa Lo Prison - This prison, not too far from Hoan Kiem Lake, was built by the French in the 19th century. It is famous for the imprisonment and torture of Vietnamese Revolutionaries who believed and died for their cause and where US pilots were kept during the Vietnamese War. The prison today is one third of its former size as now a 5 star hotel stands proud instead. A vestige rather than a museum tour is a better word to desribe our visit here. Overall it is slightly disappointing, but as you can see from the photos myself and Matt made the most of it :o)
