Moments of Hilarity in Vietnam
Barb points to the statue in the park and says: “Look, there is a statue of Lenin”
Steff responds: “Lenin who? John Lennon?” (home schooling opportunity later that day to discover Lenin)
David and Barb were changed and snuggled in bed at 10 p.m. when there came a soft tap on the door. “Hello, who is there?” David cries. No response came from the other side of the door. Fearing it was one of our children in distress, David went to open the door to find a very apologetic night watch man mumbling something about a football game downstairs. Thinking he was being invited for a boys’ night out to watch a football game on the tube, David politely declined. A nervous but insistent watchman motioned to the TV antenna sitting on top of our TV and conveyed to David in broken English he would like it for the evening to while the way the night. He promptly came into the room without invitation as Barb tried to remain inconspicuous under the blanket. David finally got through to him to wait outside the room while David disconnected the multitude of cables and wires. He gratefully carted off his prize while David and Barbara wondered where else on earth this episode could have happened other than in Vietnam.
