More information on Madison Hotel

* Just a few steps away from the Seine, surrounded by art galleries, museums, antiques shops as well as the most prestigious fashion boutiques, The Madison Hotel is a unique address...The professional and attentive staff is eager to make guests feel like at *home away from home*. Built in 1925, the Madison Hotel has an elegant facade on the Boulevard Saint Germain and a history that is tied up with that of this literary area. This is where Camus wrote *The Outsider*, and the area has been the haunt of countless famous people i1/2 the Cafe de Flore ist just across the Boulevard.Part of the Maurice Hurand hotel group since1984, the hotel features 54 traditional, elegant rooms, each with its own different ambiance and decor. With two lounges in different styles, sunny colours and a certain eclecticism, the mainly traditional style of the Madison is complemented by a happy, refreshing informality. All different, all traditional and subtly rich-looking, the bedrooms vary in tone, sometimes understated, sometimes romantic or inspired by Provence, as with the suite on the top floor. The rooms either overlook the Boulevard Saint Germain , or a little courtyard from the third floor upwards. They are well soundproofed. The top floors enjoy lovely views across Paris. The bathrooms are covered with either coloured glazed tiles (brown, burgundy, red or beige) or Italian tiling in soft colours. Most bathrooms have bathtubs with modern tap fittings.Much of the furniture comes from antiques markets, as well as the paintings and fine, light charcoal drawings. The hot and cold buffet breakfast is served in a room in the style of a Provencal kitchen, which opens onto the ground-floor dining room. A very wide choice is on offer, from fruit juice, fresh fruit and fruit salad, small pots of jam and mini pastries, to cold meats, a wonderful cheeseboard, scrambled eggs with cold cuts, pancakes and a variety of other items.
