"le sous bois is unique in everyway and overall at the end of the day a fantastic experiance, with lots of friendly people and a great atmosphere overall." source Hostelworld

"The place might not be the most luxurious hostel out there, but considering the price and the location, I'd definitely stay there again." source Hostelworld

"great place to chill out and get to know a lot of people as well as the old montreal, the staff is great also." source Hostelworld

"We would definitely want to come back for another stay and we would also recommend it to our friends." source Hostelworld

"I recommend sleeping in one of Montreal\'s park banches, they are cleaner, cheaper and less noisy." source Hostelworld

  • Clean: Rating of 3.3 out of 5

"I understand occupants of the hostel need to clean their own dishes, but the staff overall should keep it clean." source Hostelworld

"The only draw back was the blow up camp mattresses, but you knew they we're clean and we're reasonably comfortable." source Hostelworld

"The kitchen was clean, it wasnt too loud (and the free ear plugs helped anyway) and the bads were comfy." source Hostelworld

"It was pretty clean - the bathrooms were respectable and we didn't wear flip flops in the shower." source Hostelworld

"The place was really clean and seemed to be kept well." source Hostelworld

  • Service: Rating of 4.1 out of 5

"The hostel also provides free laundry, internet, and phone services." source Hostelworld

"Pretty rooms and very friendly staff." source Orbitz

"as long as one understands that this is not a full service hotel (no valet parking, no elevators, no room service) it is perfect." source Travelocity

"friendly staff and free internet are good." source Hostelworld

"The service was excellent, the best i've had in ages." source Travelocity

  • Location: Rating of 4.7 out of 5

"Very cool hostel for its rate and location- however the bathrooms are a distaster, cleanliness and hygiene should be a top priority for any hostel - it felt like a dump." source Hostelworld

"Really cute hostel, not the cleanest ever, but compensate with lots of good details, like an awesome location right in the heart of old Montreal, and good crew ;)." source Hostelworld

"The location is great - in the midst of old Montreal, a few blocks from the main downtown area, and within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and stores of all variety." source Orbitz

"The location of that hotel is perfect to enjoy the culture and scenery of downtown." source Orbitz

"Location could not be better right in the middle of old montreal and the subway/metro was right there." source Hostelworld

  • Value: Rating of 4.9 out of 5

"The staff is great, but the clientele seems to have changed and the staff seem unprepared to deal with difficult guests." source Hostelworld

"Pros: Good place to meet people, location, price, kitchen is useful." source Hostelworld

"Great location, great price, but a little disorgnized." source Hostelworld

  • Room: Rating of 4.5 out of 5

"but when we got there our private room in the hostel (little caravan) had a problem and they upgraded us to a room in the hotel ensuite and breakfast which was already booked when we got to the room and they upgraded us to a suite which was the most beautiful room I have ever slept in." source Hostelworld

"The rooms are quaint (with no TV) and with lovely big comfortable beds. It didn't matter that there was no TV as there is a large reading/ Internet room in the auberge, and lots of places to walk to near the hotel." source Orbitz

More information on Hotel Le Guilleret

Hotel Le Guilleret is sure to please those who are weary of large, faceless chain hotels. This house has so much to offer, with its six fireplaces, thick stone walls, exposed timbers and wood flooring. All rooms are non-smoking and without televisions, but have private baths. The hotel also offers three spacious suites, including one with a private balcony. Breakfast, included in your room rate, is served at a large table in the kitchen, in a friendly, family atmosphere. The building, a listed historical monument, is the only surviving example in Old Montreal of a typical commercial property of the 18th century that did double duty as a home and a place of work. That's surely one reason so many visitors stop to take photos of it. Best of all, though, we're located in the heart of the historical borough, so you'll truly feel you're getting away from it all.
