More information on Domaine du Grand Malherbes

These old 16th century walls near Aigues-Mortes, between Nîmes and Montpellier, were once the home of the treasurer to king Louis XV, before belonging much later to Victor Hugo’s great granddaughter. She received Cocteau, Eluard and Eric Satie here, and the house has inherited her sense of hospitality. It is easy to imagine you are in a friend’s home, full of 19th century furniture and a thousand memories. Between the Camargue and Provence, the bedrooms are characteristic of the region with beams, whitewashed walls and Provençal quilts. The park has a garden, a terrace and a swimming pool surrounded by palms and ancient olive trees.
