  • Overall: Rating of 4.3 out of 5

"This is the first time I would recommend a hotel to anyone - very clean and you can borrow a hair drier and an umbrella :) and the people were very cool, nice and friendly." source Hostelworld

"The staff were very helpful and friendly, the area was close enough to the train station (The Lounge is much closer though), and overall a very enjoyable stay." source Hostelworld

"We had a great stay at Wombat, it was so close enough to Westbanhof which got us pretty much to everywhere we wanted to go with ease." source Hostelworld

"although the staff were very friendly and the kitchen facilities are amazing, id definatly stay there again." source Hostelworld

"If people want a quite place to stay I wouldn\'t recommend this place there is a bar and alot of drinkers." source Hostelworld

  • Clean: Rating of 4.5 out of 5

"It was clean and the breakfast was good value, but I think there are probably more interesting places to stay in Vienna - this place felt a bit municipal and hospital-like." source Hostelworld

"Tiny bathroom, we felt that the room was not as clean as it could be, the bathroom was not cleaned every day. In general, it is not a tidy place." source Hostelworld

"The rooms and everything are absolutely spotless, so if you want a good time and clean hostel stay here, but just remember its not the cheapest." source Hostelworld

"It is very nice hostel with its helpful staff and clean rooms This was my second time to stay wombats hostels so third one will come i m sure:))." source Hostelworld

"I wolud recomend it to anyone who would like to spend time in a place that is secure, clean, with a nice staff and to have fun in the same time." source Hostelworld

  • Service: Rating of 4.5 out of 5

"There were many services I found really useful - the kitchen, the laundry, the lockers, the internet and the useful items on sale in reception." source Hostelworld

"Despite the location (a bit hidden) , breakfast still great, very clean, very very helpful staff they do know EVERYTHING about Wien." source Hostelworld

"Great bar with good happy hour specials, really friendly and helpful staff, loads of security (except for maybe the luggage area)." source Hostelworld

"Great places, complete and excelent service although during the night there was too much noise and people being loud all arround." source Hostelworld

"There is a laundry service (you have to pay), the clothes came out clean but with an odd smell, like from the kitchen." source Hostelworld

  • Location: Rating of 3.8 out of 5

"Kitchen was too small, only 3 people could cook there at the same time and even though the lounge area is huge the kitchen is squashed into a corner. The other wombats in Vienna is in a much better location, this one is quite far from the train station." source Hostelworld

"generally it looked a lot older than the better located and newer Wombats which i would suggest instead of The Base. BUT the bar area was very funky = fun bar staff, cool music, pool, games available, outdoor upstairs terrace and very cheap drinks." source Hostelworld

"The hostel was a bit difficult to find and was in a crappy area, but the staff was very helpful and the free city maps were also a big help. Also, it really wasn't that far from the train station, just in a crappy area." source Hostelworld

"cleanest i have been to, all the facilities, location is good from a getting there perspective, but to get to places you want to go (old town, clubs etc) you need to take a tram or something." source Hostelworld

"all the corridors stink from people smoking in their rooms and the smoking area is by the door which is always open to let it all waft through the reception area." source Hostelworld

  • Value

"It is much better the other Wombats hostel in Viena called THE LOUNGE, for the same price, closer to the station and much bigger facilities." source Hostelworld

"There are good value eats and internet cafes around the main strip but the internet cafe provided at the hostel is good." source Hostelworld

"Not located in the most cultured part of the city, but the center is three metro stops away, so not a big deal." source Hostelworld

"Prices should be lower since the Lounge is way newer and better conditions for the same price." source Hostelworld

"the price was good for what you got but was too expensive for a hostel in my mind." source Hostelworld

Follow Mariahilfer Strae until no. 152 (corner Rosinagasse). Turn right into Rosinagasse - Grangasse is the second street on the left. From the AirportMost convenient is the shuttle bus to Westbahnhof (6 , buy ticket from driver). The cheapest option is the S-Bahn to Wien Mitte and subway U3 to Westbahnhof from there (same ticket valid for both, 3.40 ). The 'City Airport Train' (CAT) is a few minutes faster than the S-Bahn, but costs 8 Euros - it also ends at Wien Mitte, from where youll have to catch the U3 underground to Westbahnhof. The CAT ticket is NOT valid for the U3!Shuttle bus:It will drop you off on the northern side of Westbahnhof (which is a huge construction site at the moment) - we are on the southern side of it, so you have to walk around it or right through it, thats faster. Here is how: walk into the station, then past all the platforms all the way to platform 1 (always straight ahead), there are yellow arrows on the floor with zur U-Bahn and zur Straenbahn written on them thats the right way! Continue walking straight ahead, past platform 1 until you enter the provisional entrance hall of the Westbahnhof, down the escalators in front of you, once youve reach the bottom of the stairs turn right and take the exit Gerstnerstrae (you should be standing in front of a Chinese restaurant) turn left and walk down Gerstnerstrae until you hit the main street (Mariahilfer Strae) follow Mariahilfer Strae until no. 152 (corner Rosinagasse), turn right into Rosinagasse - Grangasse is the second street on the left.S-Bahn or CAT and U3:Get off the U3 at Westbahnhof, then take the exit uere Mariahilfer Strae. Once up there, follow Mariahilfer Strae until no. 152 (corner Rosinagasse), turn right into Rosinagasse - Grangasse is the second street on the left.
