TAUPO URBAN RETREAT - GETTING HEREBy Car - (see map in photos) Coming from the NorthTaupo Urban Retreat Backpackers is located in the middle of town on Heu Heu Street. Follow your maps and you can�t miss Taupo! Highway 1 goes straight through town and Highway 5 joins up from Rotorua and through to Napier. Head towards the lake on the main road (Tongariro St) and take a left at the traffic lights onto Heu Heu St. Go straight through the round-about with the BP on your left and we are on the right hand side just after the shops.Coming from the SouthFollowing Highway 1, from Turangi you have about a 45min drive around the Lake (this should be on your left!). Taupo Urban Retreat Backpackers is located in the middle of town on Heu Heu St. Once you hit Taupo cruise along the lake front until you are past all the motels and the Mini Golf. Take the 2nd right onto Ruapehu Street and head straight for the round-about. Turn right onto Heu Heu St and the BP will be on your left, we are on the right just after the shops.By BusIntercity and any other national bus servicesThe bus terminal is on Gascoigne St (Taupo Travel Centre). Take a left out of the terminal and take the first right onto Ruapehu Street. Head towards the lake and take the second left onto Heu Heu Street. We are to the left of the shops opposite the BP. Buses also drop off at the Taupo i-SITE on Tongariro Street. Cross the road and head up Heu Heu Street, go through the round about with the BP on your left. We are on your right just past the shops. Shuttles and other bus services may drop you at the door!By PlaneTaupo has a small domestic airport, located about 6km�s from the Taupo CBD. You can catch a shuttle or taxi from the terminal and they will drop you at our door step.Hitch-Hiking Not recommended but if this is how you are getting around then so be it. Pretty much the same directions as traveling by car but it may take a little longer getting from A to B. Be Safe!!!
