Situated in the Makuleke region in the northernmost part of Kruger National Park, The Outpost rests high on a hill overlooking the floodplains of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers. This region is bordered to the north by Zimbabwe and to the East by Crooks Corner and Mozambique. Measuring 24 000 hectares the region is well known for its abundant wildlife and excellent birding including less common species not evident in the southern and central regions of the park. The diverse terrain includes Mopane woodlands, fever tree forests, acacia thickets as well as some of the largest and oldest Baobab specimens. Guests are accommodated in 12 stand-alone en-suite rooms that are placed alongside a walkway halfway up a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu river. The style is Contemporary Africa and the emphasis is on understated luxury in a wilderness setting. The modern design with fold-away sides allows for 180-degree views of the Luvuvhu River Valley and the open feel of the rooms extends into the bathroom where guests have a view as far as Mozambique. Meals will be served in the spectacular dining area with its breathtaking views and the lodge will make use of the surrounding area to host picnic lunches and bush dinners. The lounge and bar areas offer a cool and relaxing alternative to the daybeds on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool. Game activities include game drives on open 4 x 4 vehicles, accompanied by expert guides and trackers as well as foot safaris and river safaris. The nearby Thulamela archaeological site and cultural visits to the Makuleke Village outside Kruger National Park.- All reservations must be accompanied by an email address as well as a telephone number.- Guests must be age 12 years of age or older. - Guests must arrive before Kruger Gate closing times - May to August 17:00 September to December 18:00.If guests expect to arrive later than this, they must call the lodge at +27137 358 907 to make a special arrangement for late entry.- Early check-out in policy: Early check-ins and late departures subject to availability at no extra charge

Using simple, clean lines and aluminum, the unashamedly contemporary design of The Outpost emphasizes its beautiful surrounds but blends and preserves the wilderness that is its home. The bedroom, showers, bath and lounge area are all shared space that opens up onto the amazing African landscape underneath without experience-limiting walls. The Outpost is not only a visually stunning lodge, but has been designed in a manner that is consistent with attempts to minimize the lodge's building's overall environmental footprint.
