The George Hotel

A Grade II listed George Hotel Huddersfield right in the centre of the town. It's the third hotel on the site; the first was built in 1687, the second in 1787 and this one opened in 1851. So for 250 years the George has been where the good and the great in Huddersfield have set out to enjoy themselves. In 1895 the Rugby League was formed at a meeting in the hotel and it's well worth while having a look at the Rugby League Museum commemorating its history. You're never cramped in a Victorian hotel; there is space and craftsmanship, elegance and a comforting solidity. Everything which epitomizes the George Hotel. Directions

From the M62, leave at J24, follow signs for Huddersfield on the A629. At Ainley Top roundabout turn right. Go on to mini-roundabout, turn left and then take the next left straight after. Go down the steep hill and turn right at the T-junction. Go on to the traffic lights. You should now be going down a steep hill. Turn right at the T-junction. When you get to the traffic lights, the George Hotel is on your right next to the railway station.
