Small, Clean and Friendly and just minutes from the city is Castaway's Backpackers. This cheerful hostel has a nice swimming pool surrounded by palm trees if you fancy a dip. If not, you can just relax whilst watching your favourite movie with a cup of tea or coffee in our TV and video room.We offer clean, spacious double, twin, single and dorm rooms. Some have air conditioning units, while all have ceiling fans, fridges and a shelving unit with hanger space for your clothes. All our spacious rooms have fridge, ceiling fan and quality clean linen supplied. Single rooms have one single metal bed with inner-spring mattress for extra comfort - no foam beds here at Castaway's.Twin rooms have 2 single beds and the Double rooms contain a double inner-spring mattress. Our Dorm rooms are the best in Cairns and only have 4 single beds with inner-spring mattresses and absolutely NO BUNKS!Available to all our guests is the BBQ area, a large clean kitchen, and free e-mail computers. The friendly and helpful staff have expert knowledge of the local tours and will make your stay a memorable one. Free stuff: - Every night you stay with us at Castaway's Backpackers we provide you with a free evening meal at the Woolshed Backpacker Restaurant in the heart of Cairns. The meals are from a set menu and for $5 or $6 you can upgrade to the full menu- We provide a free pick from Cairns Airport, the train station and the bus transit terminal between 7.30am and 7.30pm.- We have free terminals for you to send e-mails and keep in touch with friends and the folks back home- Whether you need local, regional or national help, our on-site no fee booking service and travel agency is here to assist you with all your travel needs whilst in Australia, including airfares, coach, bus and rail travel- Free tea and coffee all dayHostel services:- For clients arriving late at Castaway's you have 24 hour access. Your room key will not only open your room door but also the FRONT door- Even though Castaway's is only 5 min walk to town we provide a courtesy shuttle, from early morning until well into the evening, to ferry you to town - Free wine and cheese nights twice a week are a great way to mix with fellow travellers, swap stories and have a chat. - Just about every one involved with Castaway's is crazy about the diving or snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef.
