More information on Angel Hotel

The Angel Hotel is a former Georgian coaching inn, built in 1452, located in the centre of historic Bury St Edmunds. It is only 100 metres from St Edmundsbury Cathedral and 200 metres from the Theatre Royal. This hotel features 74 elegant guestrooms which are individually decorated with simple, modern decor and classical furnishings. All offer bottled water, coffee/tea makers, satellite television, direct dial phones, desks, designer toiletries and wireless Internet connections. Guests can enjoy an intimate meal in a 12th century cellar in the Vaults Restaurant, and experience the elegant surroundings of the high ceilinged Abbeygate Restaurant, both serving British and European cuisine. They can also ask the concierge to help book tours and tickets, enjoy a leisurely stroll in the grounds, and relax with a drink in the lounge. Modern conference and banquet facilities are available for meetings and celebrations, with experienced hosts to assist and advise. There are wireless Internet connections throughout the hotel for those with laptops, while other practical amenities include a 24 hour front desk, currency exchange and all hours room service. The hotel is in an excellent place for exploring the surrounding area; it is a short distance to the remains of a former Benedictine abbey, the Abbey Ruins, and the floral displays of the surrounding gardens, all just 50 metres away. The Theatre Royal is 200 metres away, while a little further afield is Kentwell Hall, 16 miles distance, where the living history of days gone by is re created. Stansted Airport is approximately 25 miles from the hotel, a 45 minute drive.
