Chaotic traffic crowds a level crossing as our train rattles through. An emaciated woman carrying sticky rice parcels wrapped in banana leaves prepares to board the train from a small village station. One of the many incredible golden pagoda structures (stupas) that dot the whole country, rising high above cripplingly poor bamboo villages.
