Directions

From Orio al Serio International Airport (BGY): Distance to Hotel Piazza Vecchia is seven kilometres, approximately 15 minutes' drive. Getting there. A regular bus service runs between the airport and Bergamo. Fares cost about 1.55 EUR to the old city centre. Taxis are available outside the Arrivals hall and cost about 15 EUR. Getting around. There are good bus and rail connections from Bergamo to Milan, Lecco and other neighbouring cities. The historic centre of Bergamo is compact and most sights can easily be reached on foot. The climb from the Citt Bassa to the Citt Alta can be quite strenuous, due to the steep and winding streets, but the funicolare (a kind of tram) linking the two parts of the town, offers an alternative. Driving directions. From the airport, follow signs to Bergamo in the direction of Citta Alta. At the entrance gate of the Venetian walls, turn right. Continue straight on. At the cross road, keep left and climb up San Lorenzo Road. At the top of the road, park in the Piazza Mercato del Fieno car park, 100 metres from the hotel.
