More information on Hotel Il Palazzo
The Palazzo Bartocci Fontana, built in the 1500 following the design of Giulio Danti, is situated midway between the Basilica of Saint Francis and the main square (Piazza del Comune) along Via San Francesco. Its foundation rises from storehouses, stables and inns of the twelfth/thirteenth century. To this day inhabited and run by descendants, the family Bartocci-Fontana, the Palazzo still preserves the telari (canvas painting embedded in the wall) painted by Antonio Nessi and located in the central salon on the first floor. The hotel is the right place to have a pleasant stay, and to discover history, tradition and mysticism that are highlights of Assisi. The telari, which depict mythological scenes, were painted at the end eighteenth century in tempera following the decorative manner. Located in the left wing of Palazzo Bartocci Fontana is the hotel Il Palazzo. Relaxed atmosphere and attention to detail welcome guests into a comfortable environment that preserves all the charm of days gone by, making it a unique experience.
