More information on The Gresham Royal Marine
Since 1828 a hotel has occupied the site now occupied by the Royal Marine Hotel. The old Hayes Royal Hotel was incorporated into the design, but later demolished in the 1960*s. The new developed Royal Marine Hotel first opened its doors for business in 1865 and has been a Dublin institution ever since. The Royal Marine Hotel has hosted many Heads of State, Kings, Queens and celebrities including old blue eyes Frank Sinatra. The Hotel closed for extensive re-development in 2004 and is due to re-open in March 2007 for what will be a new phase in the history of this landmark hotel. The new Hotel will be fully restored to its former glory, but will also include many additional services and facilities today's guests have come to expect. The Hotel will boast, 227 state of the art bedrooms, including 54 Executive rooms and 22 Suites and Junior Suites, Contemporary Bistro, Gastro Pub, Bay lounge and fashionable lobby bar. 12 Executive meeting rooms located in the old Victorian building overlooking Dublin Bay. Conferencing and Banqueting suite capable of facilitating 800 delegates conference style or 450 for a Gala Dinner overlooking Dublin bay. Leisure centre featuring an 18metre infinity pool and state of the art fitness equipment. The Spa at the Royal Marine Hotel will be an oasis of calm and tranquility featuring 9 treatment rooms, wet and dry relaxation areas. An airport shuttle is available from the airport every hour to the front door of the hotel. This takes 40 minutes and costs 8 EUR one way or 14 EUR return. A picturesque seaport with a bustling centre of high fashion and commerce, Dun Laoghaire is the largest sailing and water sports centre in Ireland. Its famous harbour was built between 1817 and 1860 and has two massive piers, the East Pier and the West Pier, 1.3 km and 1.5 km in length respectively. There are four Yacht Clubs along Dun Laoghaire seafront and an excellent array of shops, pubs and restaurants, including two shopping centres, a 12 screen cinema complex and the vibrant Pavilion Theatre. Dun Laoghaire hosts the renowned Festival of World Cultures on the last weekend of August every year. The Sunday Market in the People's Park is one of the most popular in Dublin. The Town with its thriving commercial centre has the advantage of being beside the sea offering magnificent coastal views. Just 7km from Dublin within 15 minutes you can be the heart of City by DART (suburban rail).
