More information on Cotton Exchange Hotel Downtown

The historic building that so captivated Impressionist painter Edgar Degas that he turned its image on canvas into one of his most popular paintings lives again as the Cotton Exchange Hotel. Located just one block from the historic French Quarter, the hotel and its decor pay tribute to the colorful palettes created by Degas and his fellow Impressionists. In addition to the prime location as one of the closest hotels to decadent Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, the Cotton Exchange in the business district also stands within walking district of the Riverwalk shopping and entertainment area and two blocks from the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar Line, a favorite of tourists and local commuters who love the trips from the French Market to the mansions of the Garden District. New Orleans has always inspired and motivated artists. Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner captured the city's essence with words, while Louis Armstrong and Al Hirt echoed its soul through their instruments and Degas etched its rich fabric onto canvas. Degas' influence is felt throughout the hotel: the lobby is festooned with paintings from French impressionists and guests also will appreciate the Degas Ballroom for meetings and other functions. In addition to high ceilings and large windows through which natural light floods, the 102 rooms are decorated in vibrant colors, Impressionists reproductions and period style furnishings, and modern amenities like high speed Internet access. Guests also can enjoy daily cocktails in the hotel's lounge, get work done through the hotel's business services and relax around the rooftop pool. One block away, guests can work out at a fitness facility. The Cotton Exchange Hotel's historical exterior complements the hotel's entirely remodeled interior and guest rooms, making the place attractive to business and leisure travelers looking for that unique New Orleans experience.
