From May through October a variety of boats can be rented, some with luncheon and dinner cruises, at the South Bridge Boathouse in Concord. Of course the Colonial Inn is centrally located for the towns many historic sights of the 18th century revolutionary period and 19th century literary era including the Old North Bridge, the Old Manse, the Concord Museum, the Wayside, the Orchard House-home of the Alcotts, the Emerson House, and Walden Pond. In fact the western part of the Inn was once the home of Henry David Thoreau and his family, built by his grandfather. Through the centuries Concords 1716 Colonial Inn stands as an enduring landmark of gracious hospitality with guests able to enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance of a country inn, close to major historic attractions, downtown shopping, 20 minutes from Boston, and transportation to and from nearby Hanscom Airfield.
