You have to be somewhat adventuresome to try this boisterous, lively drinking and eating establishment. (There is no English-language menu, no plastic food displays, and it's a crowded, noisy place, so the timid might want to go where the menu or food is more clear cut.) After walking down pebbled, lamp-lit steps, you'll find yourself in a rustic but chic environment with gleaming wood floors, bamboo accents, and a warren of tatami rooms and counter seating (I prefer the counters, where you can watch food being prepared and have dishes handed to you via long-handled wooden paddles). The menu lists grilled fish, harumaki (spring rolls), fried shrimp, tofu, and other seasonal dishes, but it's only in Japanese. If that's too intimidating, easiest is probably to order the osuzume course (chef's selection) and leave the decisions to him.
