Cocooned by the centuries and a three-acre award-winning garden, complete with moat, is Langshott Manor. As if by some historical sleight of hand it stands just eight minutes drive from Gatwick airport but once within its embrace, the strident sounds of today ebb in diminuendo; only far, far away might you catch the occasional reminder of our age. The illusion of time in reverse continues inside the house. Two cottages dating from the 1500s, were joined by the Victorians, adding a bell tower and a mews. The eccentricities of the building give great character to the rooms which a recent refurbishment has exploited to great effect. From London Gatwick Airport (LGW): Distance to Langshott Manor is 2 miles, approximately 5 minutes' drive. Getting there. The best way to reach the hotel is to take a taxi. Taxis cost about 7 GBP. Airport transport is available from Langshott Manor for a surcharge. Getting around. Gatwick is well connected to the rest of the country by its train station. Driving directions. From Gatwick Airport. From the North terminal roundabout, take the third exit signposted to A23. Turn right at the Moat House Hotel roundabout, following signs for A23 (Brighton Road) to Horley and Redhill. Follow A23 until you see a Shell Garage in the middle of the roundabout. Directly on exiting the roundabout, turn right into Ladbroke Road. The hotel is about a mile down this lane on the right hand side.
