The owner, Luis García Alarcón, an antiques dealer, is the inspiration behind this choice government-rated, three-star hotel in a sensitively restored building from the 1880s. Occupying a bull's-eye position -- in fact, it's one of Valencia's best-located hotels -- it lies near the old source of the Turía River between the Torres Serranos (1391) and Civil Government (1763) buildings. Guest rooms, often with exposed brick walls, are soundproofed against traffic noise and are simply but tastefully furnished. The small tiled bathrooms come with tubs and showers. Don't judge the hotel by its facade, which is rather impersonal and ordinary. The building's interior will warm your heart. The hotel's location on a small street is difficult to reach if you're driving because of a series of one-way streets.
