In 1881, 4 years after the Baron's death, the manor was sold and transformed into an elegant and extremely luxurious hotel, now known as Le Meridien Hotel Des Indes. This majestic building at the Lange Voorhout in the centre of the city has entered the next chapter in its long history.

Guest Rooms:This hotel reopened in 2005 after a major renovation throughout by Jacques Garcia. The bedrooms are all large and very beautiful with huge beds, all with canopies over them, and typical Garcia touches such as studded or tassled furnishings. They are very traditional but with a modern twist and are in excellent condition. The bathrooms are also impeccable and tasteful and in excellent condition with stone floor, painted walls and Italian marble sinks. There are also typical Dutch references throughout eg the hotel room are on Dutch tulip vases and vast, hand painted tulips adorn the walls of the corridors.

Directions

There is a railway station in the terminal's central hall, under Schiphol Plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Centraal Station approximately every 15 minutes. Schiphol Travel Taxis are available from outside the arrivals hall. Public buses also run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. The easiest way to explore The Hague is by tram.
