A laid-back hotel near the Estació de Franca, the edifice is a unique example of mid-20th-century rationalist architecture. The interior is dominated by a stunning, spiral staircase, the foyer by a sleek, mosaic-tile bar. It also has one of the best restaurants in the city, Abac. It's situated right on the edge of El Born, with numerous bars, restaurants, and boutique clothing stores just a stone's throw away. The Parc de la Ciutadella (central Barcelona's greenest area) is just across the road, and a 10-minute walk will take you to the beach in Barceloneta. Bedrooms are stylish (though slightly small), comfortably decorated in warm colors, and equipped with tastefully chosen furnishings. All have en-suite bathrooms with tub/shower combos.
