Great Fosters is a scheduled historic monument that, for hundreds of years, has welcomed guests on a regal scale from royalty and statesmen to today*s international personalities of fame. It is rare to find a house of hospitality so rich in features: mullioned windows, Jacobean fireplaces, a rare oak well staircase, authentic tapestries, moulded ceilings and Persian rugs. The magnificent estate covers 50 acres and includes a spectacular topiary garden, the Knot garden with its clipped box hedges ringed by a Saxon moat and the rose gardens with arches and pergolas encircling a lily pond - a picture of Edwardian elegance. There is also a swimming pool, tennis court and croquet lawn. The recently installed amenities bring contemporary comforts wrapped in luxury whilst the candlelit restaurant weaves its own brand of magic with sumptuous food served in an ambience redolent with history.
