Well worth it and a they are addicting!! and a fraction of the cost charged at home. There are so many things with-in Walking Distance around like.... Temples, shops, Markets, Parks, Cheap Transport from here to anywhere in the city. We are centrally located, near (1 block) from the highway that takes you to/from Airport. From here that makes it almost impractical to take anything but the taxi (less than 350 baht. many do it for less. 200 on meter and 65 baht in tolls is normal) as there is no in-town traffic (Bangkok rhymes with gridlock) to contend with. Waking distance to Embassy row. Two minute walk to Sky train and the canal. The Night life of NANA and Soi Cowboy is just down the road. Major cinemas (go on a Monday cheap) and Shopping centers BMK- Siam -Central world, Pratnum plaza, Pantip plaza (a leg shaking 5 stories of computer and IT goods.) Baiyok Tower = tallest building in Bangkok with a rotating platform for a full 360 degree look at the city, it also has what I think is the greatest buffet in Bangkok bit pricey at 600 baht but worth it, what a selection!! This is a great place to impress. Located next to the Bumrungrad Hospital, ( They have a great gym that can be used for a small fee.) so many patients from around the world they just opened a Thai Immigration office there ,no lines as of yet - convenient for many of my guest.Don't be misled; being next to a World class hospital our street is quiet and safe. There is not a 'girly bar' on the street (Soi 1). The sleaze factor is 0. Two blocks east of here all that changes. Two International Phones at our front door and a 24 hr 7-11 beside us 2 ATMs along with Street Carts selling Thai foods, drinks and fruit stalls are everywhereBTS (sky train) and Canal. Both 2, minutes from us.Embassies:Walking distance to the British (6 blocks), Australian, American, Dutch, and Spanish and Vietnam (8 blocks), Cambodian, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, New Zealand, Swiss, German, Austrian, Polish and South African embassies heaps of other embassies in walking distance.Kick-boxing: (the real deal)If youre interested in Thai Boxing, here's the places where it happens. Not far from here (again walking distance) is the main venue in the world to watch kick-boxing 'Lumpini stadium'. If you buy your tickets yourself at the door they often try to upgrade you at a cheaper cost than you would of paid if you pre-booked your ticket. It's something to see, mad crowds. Heres a bit about fight times--Main venue Lumpini Stadium, Rama IV Road. Open: Every Tuesday and Friday at 18:30 p.m. - 23:00 p.m. and Saturday at 17:00 p.m. -20:00 p.m. and 20:30 p.m. - midnight. Ratchadamnoen Boxing Stadium, Ratchadamnoen Nok Road. Open: every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 18:00 pm.We cant make you more aware. Want hassle free arrival? Listen to us! We feel we are the best located Hostel / Guesthouse in Bangkok, Compare our easy accessible location and our short walking distance to the major modes of cheap transportation (BTS = Skytrain , Canals, subway and with the best hospital in Thailand one block (Bumrungrad) from us, taxis are always about no matter the A.M or P.M.) Compare, you will see that the savings per day in transportation to and from 'Soi 1 guesthouse while visiting Bangkok, will pay for your nights stay in any hostel here. Directions

Here is our biggest Tip. Please Use it. Upon arrival at airport get bags, Walk right past the NICE people offering you a taxi for. way to much.. Then go to Departures (not arrivals were you would normally be) and grab a Taxi as he is letting off a fare. Faster than waiting in line, and driver is eager to get a fast fare from nowhere, the meter is your best way, INSIST on it. 300-350 is the norm. (This is another little trick of many that can make your experience here so much easier and save you more than a nights rent. ) If there are two or more of you take a taxi as the cost will be close to 2 on the bus. Again you must insist that they use a meter. Do not pay over 400 baht. If you do I will refer you to this page that you will probably have printed out in your hand at the time. The street is also named 'Soi 1' we are about 300 meters up Sukhumvit Soi 1 on right just in BEFORE the 7-11. Big Plate Glass window with blue sign above it ( See pic) and a Big Sign (Soi 1 Guesthouse) look upSeize the world before it seizes You.We look forward to greeting you.SOI1GUESTHOUSE We never take the bus, Too many stops not the fun way. A/C taxi door to door insist on meter and don't pay over 400 baht. some get here for less than 300 baht. Highway all the way so no in town traffic to worry about. Thanks and we hope to greet you soon, and if you read all this, well done. Come and get a free mangosteen (its a fruit) when you arrive, just by saying you did read it all. There will be a test. ;pPS. Tell the bus/taxi driver 'Sook-Um-vit Soi noong' = Sukhumvit Soi 1, (hold one index finger up as you say it) and insist on meter being on!!!****************************************************************** WE are suggesting that you take a taxi .will cost about 300-350 baht (Approx 9$ US) Insist on Meter !! and will be about 30 minutes(can be much longer)A heads up---IF THE DRIVER SAYS HE CANNOT FIND US...Don't believe him!! Our location is beside the biggest international hospital in Bangkok. He only wants to take you somewhere else that he gets a commision from. GET out without paying and get another taxi. offer to talk to the police (it won't happen) if he gets upset. He may amazingly enough find us at that point. if the fare is more than 350 baht come to reception before paying him. I will come down and sort his crooked butt out!! there's not much percentage that this will happen but if it does you now know how to handle it.If you Can read Thai script on your computer, the below Thai script would be Handy to show the Taxi Driver. For the Bus...(Which does not use the freeway and makes many stops, can take 4ever Dave says take a taxi.)the # 552 Bus to the Sky trains eastern most station called 'ON NUT' (E9) Board the sky train and take it to 'Phloen Chit' (E2) Station come down from Sky train cross the Railroad tracks (1/2 block) take the first left, road name SOI 1, and we are 200 meters down on the right of soi 1. Just before the 7-11. SO fast re-cap. Bus 522. to Sky train (station E9) get off at station E2 walk back 1/2 block, take 1st road on left and we are down 200 meters on right. Youll be carrying your gear about 300 meters total. This will be the cheapest way and the way you will return to airport. It is not so fun...PSSt Take a metered taxiTHIS IS A COPY OF THE CONFIRMATION LETTER YOU WILL RECIEVE FROM US>Gday,Thanks for your booking. If you need direct contact you may send and e-mail to soi1guesthouse@hotmail.comWe'd appreciate if you could reconfirm your booking, by email or phone, (66) 02-655-0604),12-48 hours before your arrival, failure to do so could result in your booking being allocated to someone else. We feel we are the best located Hostel / Guesthouse in Bangkok, Compare our easy Accessible location from the airport and our short walking distance to the major modes of cheap transportation ( BTS, Sky train , Canals, Subway and with the best hospital in Thailand one block ( Bumrungrad) from us, taxis are always about no matter the AM or PM) Compare.. You will see that the savings per day in transportation to and from 'Soi 1 guesthouse while visiting Bangkok, will pay for your nights stay here. Please take the time to Read the information on the walls as well as ask if you have questions. The following might be of some help in getting here. It probably will save you the price of your room.Warning Beware of the Nice people just as you enter the public part of the airport offering you a TAXI!!!!! You'd be nice too if you were about to be given 750-1000+ baht for a 300-350 baht service. Let us tell you what we do in any major Airport, specifically here in Bangkok. From Suvarnabhumi International Airport,Here is our biggest Tip and you will thank me for the information when you see how they get 1000+ Baht from the uninformed. Upon arrival at airport get bags, Walk right past the NICE people offering you a taxi for. way to much.. Then go to Departures (not arrivals were you would normally be) and grab a Taxi as he is letting off a fare. Faster than waiting in line, and driver is eager to get a fast fare from nowhere, the meter is your best way,, INSIST ON METER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (This is another little trick of many that can make your experience here so much easier and save you more than a nights rent. ) If there are two or more of you take a taxi as the cost will be close to 2 on the bus. About 300-350 Baht (50 Baht service fee, 2 tolls 25+45, and about 200 on meter) is the norm. Again you must insist that they use a meter. Do not pay over 400 baht. If you do I will refer you to this page that you will probably have printed out in you hand at the time. The street is also named 'Soi 1' we are about 300 meters up Sukhumvit Soi 1 on right just in BEFORE the 7-11 that is on the corner. We have a huge Plate glass window. Big Sign (Soi 1 Guesthouse) . look up. We recommend taking a taxi, definitely if 2 or more persons. Easy, Air con, door to door, no lugging your gear. If you decide to use the bus......If you arrive at the new airport your cheapest way to get here would be the 552 bus to Sukhumvit Soi 1. 150 baht, but Longer time about an hour+. If your arriving Bangkok some other way, (Boat, train, bus, foot.) Get to the Sky train from there go to the Phloen Chit stop (E2). Get off walk down steps, at bottom of steps walk east, away from city, cross railroad tracks take the first street on your left. This street is called Soi 1. Walk down Soi 1 for about 300 meters and we are on the right side just before the 7-11. If you choose a cab Just INSIST on them using the meter. From the new airport 300-350 baht. The street we are on is named Soi 1. The name on the sign is Soi 1 Guesthouse.
