Originally built in 1824, Swallow Craigiebield House Hotel is set on landscaped private grounds and is located approximately 10 miles south of Edinburgh and 20 miles from Edinburgh Airport. The area surrounding the hotel offers an abundance of activities for all the family, including golf courses, walks in the Pentland Hills, and the sights for which the city of Edinburgh is famous. Hotel amenities include the conservatory restaurant, offering diners a mix of traditional Scottish and more modern dishes accompanied by a selection of wines. The hotel also offers an oak-paneled bar and lounge area, conference facilities, parking, room service, and a wedding venue. All 18 rooms feature coffee and tea facilities, clock radios, and TVs.

Frequent daily bus services run from the bus station adjacent to the Terminal to the central Edinburgh bus terminus at Waverley Bridge. Taxis are also available from a taxi rank adjacent to the Terminal. An Airsaver ticket covers a single fare, plus same day unlimited travel on Lothian buses after arrival in the city. The area is best explored by car. Driving directions: From Edinburgh airport, follow the A720 to Lothian Burn exit, and then follow the A702 to Penicuik. Turn right at the BP petrol station and then take the first turning on the left.
