Dating back to 1846, Volcano House is located within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, at a 4,000-foot elevation, and approximately 45 minutes from Hilo International Airport. The hotel is on the crater rim of Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, offering a spectacular view. Hotel amenities include the two gift shops, which carry a variety of souvenirs, books, videotapes, film, clothing, jewelry, and local arts and crafts. Other amenities include the bar and restaurant. The 42 rooms and 10 cabins all have donated books rather than televisions.
