Location. The Grand Hotel Metropol is located in Portoroz, Slovenia, on the peak of the hill of St Lawrence and has an unobstructed view of central Portoroz. The hotel is situated on the coast and features a private beach. A complimentary bus service connects Portoroz with the preserved Venetian city of Piran, three kilometres away. Miramare Castle is 23 kilometres away and Trieste city centre is 35 kilometres from the hotel. Hotel Features. This modern hotel has a casino with over 200 slot machines and other games. The nightclub Metropol has nightly entertainment programmes and dance music. Metropolandia is the kids club and there is also a children s pool. The main pool is located on the private beach and has a length of 50 metres. There is a shallow pool for non swimmers and an indoor pool is provided as part of the health and fitness centre, which also includes steam rooms, saunas, a beauty centre, a hair salon, fitness equipment, and a massage room. Grand Hotel Metropol serves Mediterranean dishes throughout the three restaurants. San Lorenzo serves international dishes, the Taverna Restaurant offers alfresco dining on the outdoor terrace, and the Grand Salon has a seating capacity of 450 people. The hotel has meeting and conference rooms and can provide banquet facilities. Wireless Internet access is available at a surcharge. Guests of the hotel have free access to the swimming pool at the nearby Hotel Lucija. Guestrooms. The 103 guestrooms span seven floors and all have air conditioning and balconies. They are decorated in bright, neutral colours and have mahogany furnishings. From Trieste Airport (TRS): Distance to Grand Hotel Metropol is 70 kilometres, approximately 50 minutes drive. Getting there. Hotel shuttle buses can be arranged and cost about �90 for journeys to the hotel. Taxis are available between 8 a.m. and midnight. Price is subject to change. Getting around. Portoroz is linked to Piran via a complimentary bus. Portoroz has a reliable bus service and the centre of town is easily explored by foot.
