Its name means "Kate's by the Sluice," which is appropriate enough in this small fishing village that lost its port to the IJsselmeer project. The kitchen, awarded two Michelin stars, has earned a reputation fine enough to persuade Amsterdammers to make the 96km (60-mile) drive across the polder just to have dinner. The menu changes daily -- sometimes twice daily -- according to what's available. Seafood, as you might expect, is high on the list of specialties, along with beef and wild duck. There are also eight comfortable double rooms here if you decide to stay overnight. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.
