  • Overall: Rating of 3.5 out of 5

"left phone in common room after a big night out it was at reception the next day) if you dont mind a bit of a walk and like paying the same for a bed as a footlong sub this is the place for you thanks for a great stay guys." source Hostelworld

"It had many steps to climp up and down and the place did lack the warmth that I've gotten from other places but it was a great place to stay at night and in a great location." source Hostelworld

"Beautiful building however, for peace, quiet and privacy would recommend a different hostel. Overall, a good stay and would stay again." source Hostelworld

"I would love to recommend the BEDFORD hostel to anyone looking for a cheap place to stay in Edinburgh who doesn't mind a walk to the centre." source Hostelworld

"I\'d recommend this hostel for a really short stay, but if comfort is at the top of priority list, I\'d suggest you skip this." source Hostelworld

  • Clean: Rating of 3.3 out of 5

"My partner and i stayed for 1 night in a private double room, it was very clean with new bedding, shared bathroom though but it was a fantastic bathroom, very modern and new, huge aswel, we liked it here." source Hostelworld

"The hostel was clean and comfortable however i wasnt impressed when we got told there was a late nite bar which would of been good to meet people however it was shut i am not impressed." source Hostelworld

"Bad location, unpredictable staffing, horrid sound proofing in addition to no enforcing of stated rules, and not a clean room are what one can expect here." source Hostelworld

"The staff were just a bit useless to be honest, other than that the hostel is in an OK location, has some character and is always clean." source Hostelworld

"Come to this hostel for the sake of sleeping in a church (which is a pretty fun experience), but not for getting rest or a clean shower." source Hostelworld

  • Service: Rating of 3.8 out of 5

"Interesting place, good service, confortable bed, but I spent nearly one hour to find the place, becouse the references of how to find the Hostel are not well done, once the streets references change it's name a few times and that should be explained." source Hostelworld

  • Location: Rating of 3.5 out of 5

"It was too loud most nights to actually get any sleep, no locks for the rooms, the location is bad, there never seemed to be any hot water in the showers no matter what time of day, the kitchen was fairly well equipped but dirty, and reception was usually friendly but some other staff was so obnoxious and/or rude I wish there was a rating worse than "very poor." source Hostelworld

"It was badly surprising to find out that there wasn't any ceiling at all at the dormitory which was organised like an open air communal area (nothing was said in the web page or commentaries about this); so take your ear plugs with you if you dare to stay there." source Hostelworld

"Decent hostel, nice venue, and a nice bar/common area. Location is alright, and not many minutes to the new town, and a bit further to the old town." source Hostelworld

"Great staff and great location, all amenities, really enjoyed my stay there. The location is about 10 minutes walk from the castle and city centre." source Hostelworld

"Staff was fine, common area was cool, dorms had no ceilings as is advertised (thought it would be too loud but turned out ok)." source Hostelworld

  • Value

"It was noisy at night since my room didn't have a ceiling (just the church roof far above) but I couldn't complain for the cost." source Hostelworld

"It would greatly ease minds if the room doors would lock, but for the price and what is offered, it can't be beat." source Hostelworld

"We stayed in a double private room and it was excellent value." source Hostelworld

"You can't be noisy in the dorms, but that was never a big deal." source Hostelworld

"You could find much in Edinburgh, for a much better price." source Hostelworld

  • Room

"This hostel is really beautiful and has a lot of charm since it is situated in an old church, BUT since there are no ceilings on the rooms (in order to provide you with a view of the roof of the church on the inside) it becomes quite noisy at night - seems like you are sleeping in a giant dorm with the 80 other people (plastic bags rattling, doors slamming, snorring, sneezing - you can hear absolutely everything 24." source Hostelworld

"id expected by bboking every bed in a 4 bed dorm, my friends and i could have some privicay after a good days drinking at the rugby, sadly the dorm was effectivly like a bunkhouse, our room had no cieling ie we could hear every fart snore and drunking ramblings from everyone else in the hostel." source Hostelworld

"There are no locks on the doors, no ceilings on dorms - very noisy, very little light in rooms, no room to put your bags - not even under or beside bed, no lockers, terrible security - was nervous leaving belongings and going to sleep with no lock on dorm door." source Hostelworld

"The inside has been divided into dorm rooms. The dorms don\\\'t have cielings so you look up at the church roof, but the down side is you can hear whats happing in the other rooms, and there aren\\\'t alot of showers." source Hostelworld
