More information on Michelangelo Hotel

Owned by the Italian-based Starhotel, this is the group's only U.S. property and it offers a welcome dose of Italian hospitality in the heart of New York. From the moment you enter the spacious lobby, which is adorned with Italian marble, you feel as if you have departed from the rapid-fire sight-and-sound assault of nearby Times Square. Off the lobby is a lounge where coffee and cappuccino are served all day and a complimentary Italian breakfast of pastries and fruit is offered each morning. The rooms come in various sizes and are decorated in three styles: Art Deco, country French, and neoclassical. I prefer the country French, but whatever the style, the rooms are all of a good size and include marble foyers, Italian fabrics, king beds, and two television sets (one in the bathroom). The bathrooms are well maintained and feature deep whirlpool bathtubs. Service is helpful and friendly, creating a relaxed, casual atmosphere that's rare in many New York hotels. Facilities: Restaurant; lounge; fitness center; concierge; complimentary morning limo service to Wall St.; 24-hr. room service; laundry service; dry cleaning Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Dining

Insieme RestaurantChef/partner Marco Canora and sommelier/partner Paul Grieco, owners of Hearth in the East Village, bring their casually elegant style to midtown with the opening of Insieme. The Italian word for "together," Insieme features two menus, side-by-side, both Italian. The traditional menu will offer classic Italian dishes and techniques deeply-rooted in history and Marco's family recipes, such as Suppa di Sparagi in Sapor Giallo (Asparagus Soup with Saffron, Pinenuts, Pistachio) and Tacconi ai Corniglio (Square Pasta Sheets with Rabbit Ragu). The contemporary menu presents a modern take on Italian cuisine, with dishes such as Black Olive Tagliatelle with Duck Bolognese and Australian Beef "en Brodo" with Taleggio Raviolini. Click here for menus in PDF format. Paul Grieco's wine list matches the spirit of the menus, with bottles from emerging winemakers and classic vinters equally showcased.
