Built in 1947, the Devon Valley Hotel is housed in a traditional South African building set in eight hectares of beautiful grounds which include a vineyard. It lies six kilometres from the historic town of Stellenbosch and is a forty minute drive from Cape Town. Guestrooms are decorated in earth tones and dark mahogany stained wooden floors; all have either valley or mountain views, some open out onto private courtyards. Modern amenities include satellite television, air conditioning, and coffee and tea makers. The hotel offers a plethora of dining options: Flavours Restaurant serves contemporary South African dishes in a modern setting with regular live music; The Vineyard Terrace offers al fresco dining alongside magnificent valley and mountain views and serves light meals and tapas; The Cedarwood Lounge and Bar serves light meals and has one of the largest collections of single malt whiskys in South Africa. Guests can enjoy splendid views of the Cape wine lands and the Helderberg Mountains, and visit the hotel's working vineyard. The hotel also houses two swimming pools and a jetted tub; those feeling energetic can make use of the running track, whilst children enjoy use of a supervised playground. Guests on business benefit from a well equipped communications centre offering free Internet access, use of two conference rooms, and a range of business facilities. Other amenities include a complimentary parking and tour assistance from the 24 hour front desk. The Jonkershoek Nature Reserve & Botanical Gardens are six kilometres away, and the Strand Beach is 20 kilometres from the hotel. Cape Town International Airport is 30 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 25 minutes.

Directions

Taxis are available at the airport and the hotel can arrange transport for a charge. Driving directions: From the airport, take the N2 in the direction of Somerset West then head towards the Spier Wine Estate. Pass the estate and turn right at the junction. Continue for another 2 kilometres, past a small industrial area (including Cape Saw Mills and PG Bison). Immediately after Cape Saw Mills, turn left into the Devon Valley Road and continue for 5 kilometres to reach the hotel.
